Administrator required for Tapes

Start date: 20th May 2019
Fixed term: 13 weeks (with the possibility of extension)
Pay: £3,094 (split into 3 monthly payments)
Responsible to: Director
Hours: 28 hours over 4 days per week
Region: Remote working possible for the right candidate

Tapes is a transparent, discovery and networking platform that connects artists with DJ’s and influencers active within Hip Hop and Grime in the UK. Artists are able to create an account with a profile, upload their music and network with others on the platform. DJ’s and influencers also create an account with a profile and have the option of uploading a short promo mix if they choose.

As well as being active online, Tapes is very much embedded in the UK music industry. We work with organisations such as PRS Foundation, British Underground, Arts Council and Department of Trade and Industry. We also have partnerships with A3C Festival in Atlanta and Canada Music Week in Toronto, where we do showcases and provide opportunities for UK artists to perform.

We are empowering artists by providing a level playing field to the key players in the industry and breaking down access barriers. DJ’s and influencers play a massive role in UK’s music scene and we are giving them the opportunity to play a role in the discovery of new, emerging artists across the UK.

We are looking for a responsible Administrator to perform a variety of administrative tasks.

Working closely with the Director, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Organise and schedule appointments and meetings using the online calendar
  • Take detailed minutes at meetings
  • Write and distribute newsletters using Mailchimp or similar
  • Organise and maintain social media using buffer scheduling tool
  • Help to build the DJ and influencer mailing list
  • Send regular updates on new music to DJ’s
  • Deal with online enquiries from artists and DJ’s via email and social media
  • Set up and maintain contact lists using an online CRM system
  • Assist with organising events and meetups
  • Set up artist accounts on the platform, upload music, liaise with artists directly via email and social media
  • Monitor and update Spotify playlists on a weekly basis
  • Assisting with grant funding applications


  • Experience within a similar administrative role
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to use editing resources such as Canva, Photoshop or similar
  • Knowledge of email service providers such as Mailchimp
  • Experience of engaging with social media
  • Willingness to attend events (may include evenings or weekends)
